Community Guidelines
Working draft — pending counsel review. This page reflects our current operating practice but is not yet a legally executed agreement. For an authoritative answer about the terms in force, email hello@noblenikah.net and we'll reply within 24 hours.
Noble Nikah is a matrimonial home. These guidelines exist so it stays one — a place where families can take part, where verified profiles mean what they say, and where every interaction respects the people on the other side.
What we ask
- Join with a single intent: marriage. Profiles used for friendship, dating without marriage-intent, networking, or recruiting are removed.
- Be honest about your age, marital status, photos, and the preferences you list. Embellishment is the most common form of fraud we see; it's also the easiest to detect.
- Respect families. Walis, parents, and siblings often review profiles alongside their family member. Address them as you would in person.
- Use real, recent photos of yourself. No filters that materially change your appearance, no group photos as your primary, no images pulled from search engines.
- Talk inside the platform. Premature exchange of phone numbers, social handles, or physical addresses is the leading risk vector for matrimonial scams. The contact-redaction layer mitigates this on a best-effort basis.
What's not allowed
Any of these is grounds for immediate suspension and, depending on severity, a permanent ban + a reported entry on our shared suspended-account list (which prevents re-registration with the same NIC or email):
- Harassment, threats, or abusive language toward any member or their family.
- Sharing personally-identifying information (a name + address + workplace combination, photos taken without consent, etc.) about another member outside the verified channels.
- Impersonation — pretending to be someone else, or running a profile on behalf of a family member without their consent.
- Solicitation — using your profile to sell products, recruit, or promote unrelated services.
- Sectarian, ethnic, or racial abuse. We host all Muslim communities in Sri Lanka and don't tolerate vilification of any of them.
- Sexual content. Noble Nikah is for marriage, not romance-on-demand. Photos and messages that cross the line into explicit content will be removed.
- Asking other members for money, gifts, or financial assistance. Genuine financial conversations happen between families after a proposal is on the table, not over interest cards.
- Suspending the verification queue with fraudulent NIC submissions.
Reporting
If something here doesn't feel right, report it from the profile or thread (the three-dot menu has a Report option) or email hello@noblenikah.net. We triage every report within 24 hours; emergency safety reports get a same-day response.
You can also use the in-platform block action to stop further contact without making a formal report. Blocks are bilateral — the blocked user can't see or message you on either side.
How we enforce
We start with the smallest action that closes the issue:
- Warning — for first-offence minor breaches. The action is logged but the account stays open.
- Restriction — temporary loss of a feature (e.g. messaging paused for 7 days) while the situation is reviewed.
- Suspension — account access frozen pending appeal. Appeals go to hello@noblenikah.net and are reviewed by a different moderator from the one who actioned the suspension.
- Permanent ban — for repeated or severe breaches. We add the NIC and email to a sentinel list so the same person can't re-register.
A note on tone
Online conversations lose context. Before you send a sharp message, imagine it being read by the recipient's mother. If that thought gives you pause, edit before you send. Most of our removals start with a single off-tone exchange that escalates.
Changes
We update these guidelines when we see new patterns of misuse. Material updates are announced in-app.
